Use People Skills
As a restaurant manager, you will have to handle various administrative duties, and you will have to use your team to fulfill those duties. Ensure that open communication and solid leadership skills are part of your working environment. If you can communicate and lead well, you will have a happy staff. Customers can pick up the energy from staff who enjoy what they are doing, so it’s important to ensure that your staff’s energy levels are positive.
If you feel pressurized to handle things yourself, the pressure is soon going to wear you down. Remember that you cannot handle things alone and that you need the support of your staff to manage the restaurant. As the restaurant manager, you must delegate responsibilities to others so that you are free to oversee and manage things in the restaurant. You need to have a solid hand over things and avoid getting stuck doing things others can do.
Invest in Technology
Administration is one of the areas you will be handling, and you might want to ditch the hard copies and invest in technology. Instead of using paper receipts and order forms, you might want to have electronic wall-mounted display systems installed in the kitchen. The pen could be mightier than the sword, but in this case, invest in electronic equipment for the kitchen.
Giselle Halwani has used electronic wall-mounted equipment in the kitchen and has seen the efficiency level of the restaurant staff go up.
